AI book writer

An AI book writer that keeps you in charge of the book

Most AI writing tools hand you a wall of text and leave the rest to you. Book Factory is built around the whole job of making a book: a chapter-by-chapter outline, full chapter drafts, an editor's quality checks, and publish-ready files at the end.

You set the voice and direction once. Every outline and chapter is generated against it, and you can edit any line or regenerate any chapter with notes. Nothing is final until you say so.

Free plan: $4 of AI writing included — about 40 chapters — and no API key needed.

How the AI book writer works

Real screen recordings of the product.

1

Describe the book

Pick fiction or non-fiction, then give it a topic or premise, the readers it's for, a chapter count (6–24), and a direction: voice, point of view, what to include and what to avoid. The AI returns a full chapter-by-chapter outline in about a minute.

2

Draft and revise each chapter

Generate a chapter with one click and watch it write — a full draft of a few thousand words, following the outline and your direction. Edit it in the built-in editor, or regenerate it with specific feedback.

3

Check it, then export

Run the quality checks, then build the book as a Kindle-ready EPUB, a PDF, a KDP paperback interior, or interactive HTML, and download it.

Every chapter gets a verdict

Each time a chapter is written or saved, it's scored by Jev, a fast judge model from TypeSafe, against a fixed bank of questions for its book type — plus a continuity pass that reads it beside the chapters before it and checks it against the facts they established. Findings flow straight into the editor pass as concrete fixes.

Approved

No problems flagged.

Needs work

Style issues flagged, each with a specific fix for the editor pass.

Denied

A high-confidence blocking problem — the book won't pass the publish-ready check until it's fixed or you override it as a labelled draft.

Non-fiction checks

  • Unsourced "experts" presented as real people
  • Quotations with no source
  • Invented case studies presented as real events
  • Statistics with no source marker
  • Facts that contradict an earlier chapter
  • Chapters that re-cover earlier ground as if new
  • Motivational filler, hedge stacking, and empty signposting

Fiction checks

  • Contradicting the established setting, characters, or places
  • Ignoring or repeating an earlier event
  • Flat, interchangeable dialogue
  • Scenes that change nothing
  • Stock similes and vague placeholder feelings
  • Stating the moral outright
  • Chapters that stop mid-scene

Then the whole book

Chapter verdicts roll up into checks no single chapter can answer.

One grade for the book

A single book grade in the Quality tab — withheld, with the reason, until enough of the book has been measured to mean something.

A publish-ready check

For fiction and non-fiction. High-confidence problems block the final build; you can answer a finding back with your reason, and a build that goes ahead on one says so.

Consistency across chapters

Facts, names, and events checked against everything earlier chapters established — plus numbering, cross-references, and a real ending.

Numbers that add up

Totals, balances, and percentages are recomputed, so a figure that doesn't add up gets caught instead of printed.

Argument structure

For non-fiction: does the book build toward something, are the chapters in a defensible order, is anything missing or said twice. Advice, not a gate.

Every chapter also gets a slop score: how densely it uses the words and phrasing machine prose overuses, built on the open-source slop-score lists behind the EQ-Bench creative-writing leaderboard.

Write non-fiction or fiction

The same workflow adapts to the kind of book you're writing. Non-fiction books get research grounding, cited sources, and citation checks. Fiction gets a premise-driven outline, a cast of characters, and continuity and scene-craft checks.

  • Non-fiction: how-to guides, workbooks, business and self-help, textbooks and study guides
  • Fiction: cozy mysteries, LitRPG and progression fantasy, romance, thrillers, and more

What you get at the end

Book Factory is aimed at a finished book, not a draft in a chat window. From one project you can build every file you need to publish.

  • EPUB for Kindle and other e-readers
  • PDF for digital sale or sharing
  • Paperback interior PDF sized for Amazon KDP (trim sizes like 6" × 9")
  • KDP wraparound cover PDF
  • Interactive HTML for the web
  • KDP listing copy: title, subtitle, description, keywords

What it won't do for you

  • It drafts; it doesn't replace your judgment. Read and edit every chapter before you publish.
  • Quality checks flag problems — they don't guarantee a book is good. You decide when it's ready.
  • For health, legal, or financial topics, have a qualified person review the facts before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI book writer?

The best tool is the one that gets you to a finished book you'd put your name on. Book Factory's approach is to draft in your voice, check the draft like an editor (facts and citations for non-fiction, continuity for fiction), and export publish-ready files — so you spend your time editing rather than wrangling prompts and formatting.

How long does it take to write a book with AI?

The outline takes about a minute and each chapter draft takes a minute or two to generate. A first full draft can be done in an afternoon; the real time goes into reading, editing, and revising it into a book you're proud of.

Will the book sound like AI wrote it?

You set the voice and direction up front, and every chapter is checked for machine-writing tells like clichés, filler, and telling instead of showing. You can edit or rewrite anything. The more of your own knowledge and opinions you put into the direction and edits, the more it reads like you.

Is it free?

Yes. The Free plan includes $4 of AI writing — about 40 chapters, or roughly three typical books — with every feature and export format and no API key needed. If you use it up, you can add your own Anthropic key in Settings and keep writing. A Pro plan is coming soon.

Who owns the book?

You do. Your books are private to your account, Book Factory does not train on your content, and you can export everything at any time and publish it wherever you like.
